Mario Nuño-Whelan, PLA, ASLA
Senior Landscape Architect
Mario loves what he does. Landscape architecture and planning often means trying to balance function, nature, art, environmental justice, social structures, cultural awareness, and play. And it requires collaboration to work. Mario is always up for these challenges and lives for the moments when it all comes together. He also likes to focus on community-based initiatives and is passionate about green infrastructure, low impact development, and designing in a way that captures a connection with and reverence for the land. Impressive, but did you know he can milk a cow like a champ? Mario lived on an alpaca and dairy cow farm in Peru, while working with the Peace Corps. If he won the lottery tomorrow, he would buy a farm, build a workshop, and design pop-up books about trees.
