The Plan creates a joint vision for the area’s trail amenities, provides an inventory of the existing trails, assesses the existing system, and develops a roadmap to implement and achieve the joint vision.
Pland is working with the City of Socorro on developing an overall trail plan encompassing over 600 acres surrounding the City. The Plan creates a joint vision for the area’s trail amenities, provides an inventory of the existing trails, assesses the existing system, and develops a roadmap to implement and achieve the joint vision. The plan aims to capitalize on unique natural assets by developing more formalized outdoor recreation opportunities accessible to residents, visitors, and new recreationalists. This will provide a quality user experience while protecting vital natural and cultural assets and habitats. It aims to develop a trail network density that is sufficient to attract multi-day visitors, with ‘flagship’ trails or areas that can raise the profile of Socorro and nearby communities as a tourist destination for growing user groups such as hikers, climbers, mountain bikers, and trail runners. To develop this plan, our team worked closely with the City of Socorro, trail advocacy groups, and the BLM.
